Meet Our Pastor
Dr. Kevin BlackwellDr. Kevin Blackwell was called as the pastor of Valley Creek in August of 2005. He has been in ministry since 1992 serving churches in a number of roles. He has a Bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies from Samford University, a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and received his Doctorate from NOBTS. He is the recepient of the 2011 Troy L. Morrison Leadership award for the Alabama Baptist Convention in the area of existing church work. Bro. Kevin also serves Alabama Baptists as Vice-President of the Alabama Baptist Pastors Conference as well as serving on the State Board of Missions. He met his wife Lorrie in 1994 through mutual friends and they married on August 5, 1995. They have four children; Maggie 13, Andie, 11, and Averie 8, and Brodie 7. When he is away from the church he enjoys running, camping, video games, dates with Lorrie, Alabama football, and spending time with his children.
His life verse is Romans 12: 1-2, "Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is good, pleasing, and perfect will of God."
